What we believe

We are a Biblical church who clings to the Bible as the basis of faith and life. We believe that everything written in the Bible is true and comes from God himself. We believe that the Bible is the wonderful story of our salvation, where we see the problem of our sin revealed, but also where we see our Savior from sin — Jesus.

We are a Christian church that believes that Jesus died for the sins of the whole world (John 3:16) and rose from the dead to give us life (Romans 4:25). Without Jesus there is no forgiveness, no hope, no comfort, and no eternal life for mankind. With Jesus there is full and free forgiveness, eternal hope, lasting comfort, and eternal joy in heaven. We believe what Jesus said, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.” (John 14:6)

We are a Lutheran church, named after the reformer Martin Luther. Martin Luther rediscovered truths that are found in Scripture and fought to make those truths known to people around him. Among the truths he proclaimed three are the most common and they are known as the 3 Solas: sola gratia, sola fide, sola scriptura. He wanted people to know that they were saved by God’s grace alone, through faith alone apart from works, as it is proclaimed in Scripture alone. We seek to make these truths known.

If you would like to know more about what our church believes and teaches, we offer a Faith Builders class. Faith Builders covers the basics of Christianity and is a great introductory course or even a great review for all people. If you would like more information about the class, click below.

Sure Foundation Lutheran is one of many congregations associated with an international church body called the WELS. The Wisconsin Evangelical Lutheran Synod (WELS) is a cooperating group of congregations headquartered in Waukesha, Wisconsin. Since 1858, the congregations of the WELS have been working together to do, as a whole, what individual congregations cannot. They train pastors, teachers, and other ministerial staff. They send missionaries all over the world - everywhere from Taipei, Taiwan to Brandon, SD. They publish excellent theological and practical resources for the church. They do considerable relief work wherever there is need. Sure Foundation Lutheran is proud to be a member congregation of the WELS.
